History
Aurea
Village lies in an historic area of forest and coconut groves
in the northern foothills of Mount Batulao. It is situated in
Amuyong, a former sitio (hamlet) that forms part of a larger
village known as Kaytitinga in the municipality of Alfonso,
Province of Cavite.
Once the home of wild boar, deer, monkeys and
birds, the dense forest of Kaytitinga has played an
interesting role in the revolution of 1898 and World War II. In 1897 it provided a
refuge for the Katipuneros led by Andres Bonifacio in the
struggle for the Philippine Independence against their rival
Emilio Aguinaldo and his supporters. In a twist of history,
Kaytitinga thus served briefly as a revolutionary
headquarters, even in a sense as one of the contending
“Capital” of the nation then being born.
